ðšImportant Update: U.S. Customs Changes for Shipments to the United States
Jun 19, 2026Dear Kfriday members,
We'd like to share a heads-up about a new U.S. customs rule that may affect some orders shipping to the United States.
What's changing
Starting July 8, 2026, the U.S. is introducing a new requirement for certain imported consumer products. For items in the affected categories, specific safety details may need to be submitted to U.S. Customs when the package enters the country.
Which products may be affected
The rule covers a range of everyday consumer goods. The main categories include:
Children's products
- Toys and games
- Cribs, cradles, strollers, and play yards
- Children's clothing and sleepwear
- Children's car seats, carriers, and high chairs
Home goods and furniture
- Furniture (e.g., sofas, mattresses, dressers, bunk beds)
- Rugs, carpets, and window coverings
- Portable fuel containers and candles
Consumer electronics and electrical products
- Power adapters and chargers
- Portable lighting products
- Small appliances
- Battery-operated devices
Home improvement and recreation
- Ladders and step stools
- Sports and recreation gear
- Outdoor grills and related products
Textiles and apparel (under CPSC rules)
- Flammable fabrics
- Upholstery fabrics
What this means for personal orders
At this stage, it is not yet fully clear how the rule will apply to items imported for personal use (as opposed to items imported for resale). The detailed guidance and enforcement approach for personal shipments are still being worked out as the new system rolls out.
What we'll do on our end
The orders we forward are for our customers' own personal use, and many of the items we ship are collectible items made for fans and adult collectors â not products designed for young children.
For the items we ship that fall under CPSC-regulated customs (HS) codes, we will take steps to reflect this correctly on your customs paperwork. Where the item is a collectible intended for fans and adult collectors, we will:
- Add "(For ages 14 and up)" to the product description, and
- Automatically include the appropriate customs exemption code on the product description.
This helps show U.S. Customs that the item is a collectible intended for ages 14 and up â not a young children's product â and therefore does not require a children's-product safety certificate, which may support smoother clearance.
ðšThese measures will apply to shipments dispatched from Monday, June 22, 2026 onward.
â ïž Please note: for EMS and K-Packet, we may not be able to include this extra wording in the product description, because the Post Office system only allows a limited amount of text.
Please keep in mind
Because the system is brand new and inspections are increasing, some packages may still be held or inspected, which can cause delays. However, the final decision sadly rests with U.S. Customs and is beyond what we're able to control.
Our recommendation
While the new system settles in, we recommend choosing postal shipping options such as EMS or K-Packet where available â especially for items in the categories above. During this early period, postal shipments may tend to move through customs more smoothly, which helps your order arrive with fewer delays.
We'll keep you posted as things become clearer. Thank you so much for your patience and for shopping with Kfriday!
