LNGSHOT: The Bold New Bet on K-Pop's Future — And the French Member Making History

"It's LNGSHOT 4SHO!" Meet the Group Rewriting the Rookie Rulebook

In a K-pop landscape built on polished perfection, LNGSHOT entered the scene like a splash of cold water, intentional, confident, and refreshingly raw. Formed under MORE VISION, the label founded by legendary Korean-American rapper and entrepreneur Jay Park, LNGSHOT officially debuted on January 13, 2026 with their first EP, SHOT CALLERS. And they've been turning heads ever since.

The group is made up of four members (Ohyul, Ryul, Woojin, and Louis) and they waste no time making their identity clear. Their official greeting says it all: "It's LNGSHOT 4SHO! Hello, we are LNGSHOT!"

What Does "LNGSHOT" Even Mean?

The name is short for "LONG SHOT" and that choice is deeply intentional. It represents the idea of being an underdog and defying the odds to become successful. It's about taking risks, embracing challenges, and believing that the attempt itself has value, even when success seems improbable.

It's a fitting name for a group that from day one refused to follow the typical idol group playbook.

The Journey to Debut

LNGSHOT didn't quietly wait in a practice room until their debut day. Jay Park built hype around them in a distinctly unconventional way. In August 2025, they made a surprise appearance at a Hanyang University festival, performing an unreleased track before anyone even knew their names. Park then gradually revealed each member over social media, posting photos with their faces obscured and teasing the group's identity with hashtags like #middlefingertothenorm.

In November 2025, they dropped their pre-debut mixtape 4SHOBOIZ MIXTAPE, followed by their first official pre-debut single "Saucin'" in December 2025. The "Saucin'" music video even featured Jay Park himself, humorously playing a CEO scolding the group, a self-aware nod to earlier controversies.

Their official debut came with the EP SHOT CALLERS and its title track "Moonwalkin'", a song that references Michael Jackson and Beyoncé and was originally written as a solo track for member Woojin. Just weeks later, Billboard Korea named them their February 2026 Rookie of the Month, a remarkable achievement for a group barely a month into their career.

Louis: K-Pop's First French Member in a Boy Group and a Star in the Making

Among all of LNGSHOT's remarkable qualities, one fact stands out in K-pop history: Louis is the first French member of a K-pop boy group.

His full name is Louis Elliot Jourdain Lim (Korean name: Lim Ji Ho / 임지호), and he was born on May 1, 2010 making him just 15 years old at the time of LNGSHOT's debut. Despite his young age, his presence in the group is undeniable.

His Background

Louis was born and raised in South Korea, with a French father and a Korean mother. He grew up speaking French at home with his father, attended the prestigious Lycée Français de Séoul (LFS) for eight years, and grew up socializing in French with his school friends. As a result, French is actually the language he speaks most comfortably even above Korean, despite having lived in Korea his entire life.

He holds dual citizenship (both Korean and French) and can speak Korean, French, English, and some Spanish. A true multicultural identity for a multicultural era.

The Voice That Breaks Rules

Louis serves as LNGSHOT's Main Vocalist, and his voice has already become one of his most defining features. Fans describe his tone as soft yet powerful — earning him the nickname "Baby Justin Bieber" for his smooth, charming delivery. Some fans simply say his voice is "a fraud," meaning it sounds so good it feels almost impossible.

He spent approximately two years as a trainee under MORE VISION after passing their Global Audition. His mother was actually a Jay Park fan, which is part of how he discovered the label — and the rest is history.

A Songwriter Too

Beyond his voice, Louis is also a songwriter and composer. Before LNGSHOT's debut, he and fellow member Ohyul co-wrote Jay Park's song "Remedy" a remarkable credit for someone still in his teens. He also collaborated with Jay Park on a remix of the song "Lullaby," working alongside artists JayDon and Paradise J.

A Kid with a Unique Story

Louis describes himself as someone who is passionate about music above all else. He spends his free time composing, arranging, and listening to music. His current role model is Young Thug, and he has been noted for how his voice is gradually deepening and gaining richness as he matures. He loves basketball, enjoys junk food (especially burgers and pizza), and has a cat named Hunter.

Despite his mixed cultural background, Louis has never actually lived in France — only visiting briefly on vacation. His entire world has been Seoul, and yet France is deeply woven into who he is.

Why LNGSHOT Matters

What makes LNGSHOT different isn't just their sound, it's their attitude. Jay Park described the group's vision as one that "chases what it loves first and lets authenticity win over the crowd." In a genre where groups often debut as polished, finished products, LNGSHOT is actively showing the process of becoming, mixtapes, pre-debut stages, raw energy and all.

They've already proven they can hang with the best. Their debut performance of "Moonwalkin'" on M Countdown was praised for avoiding the trap of sounding derivative, presenting instead a group grounded in genuine talent and a clear identity.

With 6 million monthly Spotify listeners and growing international interest, especially around Louis's French-Korean identity, LNGSHOT is shaping up to be one of the most exciting K-pop debuts of 2026.

Final Thoughts

LNGSHOT is many things at once: Jay Park's first idol project, a group of underdogs betting on themselves, and the home of K-pop's first French member in a boy group. Louis's story alone, a half-French kid from Seoul who attended a French school, grew up speaking French in Korea, and is now one of the most talked-about new voices in K-pop is the kind of story that reminds you why this genre continues to captivate the world.

Keep your eyes on LNGSHOT. This is only the beginning.
