Xdinary Heroes’ Gunil Leaves the Group and JYP Entertainment

Xdinary Heroes member and leader Gunil has officially left the group and JYP Entertainment.

JYP Entertainment announced on August 13, 2026, that Gunil would end his activities with Xdinary Heroes and that his exclusive contract with the company would be terminated by mutual agreement.

The agency also confirmed that Xdinary Heroes will continue as a five-member group.

Gunil Leaves Xdinary Heroes

According to JYP Entertainment's official statement, the company recently discussed an issue involving Gunil with the artist in depth.

After considering the situation and discussing his future activities, JYP said it had concluded that it would be difficult for Gunil to continue participating in the group's activities.

As a result, JYP and Gunil agreed to terminate his exclusive contract, and Gunil officially left Xdinary Heroes on August 13, 2026.

Gunil had served as the band's leader and drummer since Xdinary Heroes' debut.

JYP Ends Gunil’s Exclusive Contract

JYP Entertainment stated that the contract termination was reached through mutual agreement.

The agency did not provide extensive details about the specific issue in its official statement, referring to it only as a recent matter involving Gunil and emphasizing the seriousness with which it had treated the situation.

Reports surrounding the announcement followed allegations circulating online regarding remarks allegedly made by Gunil about fans and others. Gunil later acknowledged making inappropriate remarks in a private conversation, according to subsequent reports.

Because the initial JYP statement did not provide a detailed account of the allegations, those online claims should be distinguished from the agency's officially confirmed information.

Xdinary Heroes Will Continue as Five Members

JYP Entertainment confirmed that Xdinary Heroes will continue their activities as a five-member band following Gunil's departure.

The agency said it would provide support so that the remaining members could focus on their music activities and continue their work as a team.

The remaining members are:

  • Jungsu
  • Gaon
  • O.de
  • Jun Han
  • Jooyeon

Gunil's departure therefore does not mean that Xdinary Heroes has disbanded.

Upcoming Activities Are Being Adjusted

Gunil's departure has also affected some of Xdinary Heroes' previously scheduled activities.

The group was scheduled to perform at Summer Sonic 2026 in Japan, but the festival subsequently announced that Xdinary Heroes' appearances in Tokyo on August 14 and Osaka on August 16 had been canceled.

JYP later announced the cancellation of the group's scheduled September fan meeting, “THE X-TOWN,” which had been planned for September 18–20 in Seoul. The agency explained that the decision was made while reorganizing the group's future activities and schedule.

JYP stated that activities other than the canceled fan meeting would continue as planned, while the company works with the members to reorganize their future activities.

A Sudden Change for the Band

Gunil's departure comes after more than four years since Xdinary Heroes debuted under JYP Entertainment in December 2021.

As the group's leader and drummer, he had been one of the six original members since the band's debut.

Following his departure, Xdinary Heroes will move forward with five members while JYP Entertainment continues to manage the group's activities.

Final Thoughts

Gunil has officially left Xdinary Heroes and JYP Entertainment as of August 13, 2026.

JYP Entertainment said that the decision to terminate his exclusive contract was reached by mutual agreement after discussions regarding a recent issue involving the member.

The agency has confirmed that Xdinary Heroes will continue as a five-member group, although some previously announced activities, including Summer Sonic performances and the September fan meeting, have been canceled or adjusted.
